Who am I? Glad you asked!

I am a social neuroscientist interested in how contextual factors influence health. My work has focused on how individual differences impact alcohol motivations in response to stress, goal priming, and evaluative conditioning (Petzel et al., 2019; Petzel & Noel, 2019; Petzel & Noel, 2020). My current work focuses on the development of interventions to reduce alcohol use, such as implementation of warning labels on packaging, exposure therapy via virtual reality, and use of smart devices to prevent stress-induced relapse.

My research is interdisciplinary, utilizing theory from social psychology and methodlogies from neuroscience to inform development of clinically relevant interventions to promote healthier lives.
